At the crossroads of modular design and modern architecture, Concrete is the first project to be completed in the United Arab Emirates by the visionary Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA), founded by Pritzker Architecture Prize Laureate Rem Koolhaas.
Concrete, commissioned by Alserkal, has been shortlisted for the 2019 Aga Khan Award for Architecture, marking the first time a project in Dubai has been shortlisted for this prestigious award. This is also the first time a project by the Office for Metropolitan Architecture has been shortlisted.
Nestled in the heart of Alserkal Avenue in Dubai, Concrete is a collection of warehouses that have been conserved and re-imagined by OMA. As the leading art space in the Middle East, it hosts some of the most exciting regional and international art exhibitions and experiences.
An adaptable, multidisciplinary space whose ability to metamorphose makes it the home for art, design, fashion, and performing arts, Concrete draws inspiration from the contemporary artistic practices that surround it and brings inspired experiences to life within its walls.
